funny: you would think the best side of a couple hours for yourself while your child is with the baby-sitter is taking a shower, or simply going to the supermarket by yourself to load a lot of stuff-- well both are neat, but the top activity today, the one that made me taste FREEDOM again was... finally listening to some GOOD HEAVY METAL REALLY LOUD in my car!!! (..yeah yeah, while going to the supermarket..)

buffo: si potrebbe pensare che il lato migliore dell'avere due ore per sè stessi mentre il bambino è con la babysitter sia farsi una doccia, o semplicemente andare al supermercato da soli e caricare un sacco di roba.. sì, sono entrambe carine, ma l'attività fantastica di oggi, quella che mi ha fatto riassaporare la LIBERTà è stata... finalmente ascoltare del BUON HEAVY METAL ALTISSIMO in macchina!!! (..se se se, mentre andavo al supermercato..)

Italian Invitation / invito italiano

Six clues that make you know for sure you've been to a typical Italian lunch/dinner:
1. one of the courses took at least two days to cook;
2. one of the courses is present with the same name in a fifty Km radium area, but every grandmother there cooks it differently - outside that area, nobody would know what that dish is like;
3. the wine is local and of course perfect with all the possible combinations of the courses of the meal, water is an option, sodas of any kind are simply out of the question (yes, even for children);

4. the courses come one after another (never at the same time) and are at least five;
5. everybody drinks coffee in the end, and the chitchat that follows is still around the same table and at least as long as the meal itself;
6. at the very end, the hostess (and cook) apologizes for having offered so little and says: "There was nothing! I'm so sorry, I gave you nothing to eat!!!" and she really believes her own words.

Sei indizi che vi fanno capire con certezza che siete stati ad un tipico pranzo/cena italiano:
1. una delle portate ha richiesto almeno due giorni per essere cucinata;
2. uno dei piatti è presente con lo stesso nome in un'area del raggio di 50 Km, ma ogni nonna lo cucina in modo diverso - fuori da quell'area, nessuno ha idea di che cosa sia quel piatto;
3. il vino è locale e ovviamente perfetto per tutte le possibili combinazioni delle portate del banchetto, l'acqua è ammessa, le bibite di qualsiasi tipo sono semplicemente fuori questione (sì, perfino per i bambini);
4. le portate arrivano una dopo l'altra (mai contemporaneamente) e sono almeno cinque;
5. tutti alla fine bevono caffè e le chiacchiere che seguono si tengono sempre intorno al medesimo tavolo e durano almeno quanto tutto il pasto stesso;
6. alla fine di tutto, la padrona di casa (e cuoca) si scusa per avervi offerto così poco e dice: "Non c'era niente! Mi dispiace tanto, non vi ho dato niente da mangiare!!!" e crede davvero alle proprie parole.
